The air intake system is simple and easy to fix. All it takes is a screwdriver and maybe a socket wrench set to repair and replace each item.
Air Filter
Air filters are easy to replace. Do it yourself and save. A typical air filter will cost anywhere between $10 and $50 depending on the performance.

Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor
MAF sensor
Mass air flow sensors are a breeze to clean. Simply spray some CRC MAF cleaner that can be bought from amazon or any local autobody store for cheap. A can will cost $8-$15. A replacement will cost $50-150.
Throttle Body

In order to maintain the throttle you can clean carbon build-up with a can of carb cleaner. A can will run you $10-$20.

Intake Manifold
The manifold distributes air evenly to the pistons. The pressure is negative so a small suction is occuring inside. Other systems such as the PCV system will draw air from the manifold for its use.
